The A9U is an ANSI type 2, zero power, optical communication probe. It is a bidirectional interface that utilizes infrared light. It provides an ANSI rated optical communication interface for programming and reading electric utility meters using either a serial RS232 port or a serial USB port. When connected to a serial port, the A9U permits isolated communication with meters. The A9U has Virtual serial port drivers for Windows® 98, Me, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 – 32-bit and 64-bit – operating systems.
